ABOUT JULIA

Julia Chiang is a self-taught abstract expressionist who channels emotions, connections, and untold stories through bold color and rich texture. Her vivid acrylic and multimedia paintings serve as a bridge between the seen and the unseen—translating feelings, memories, and narratives into visual form.

Based in North Jersey, Julia’s artistic journey is as layered as her work. Born in Raleigh, NC, to immigrant parents, she transitioned from a career in pharmacy to web design and graphic art before fully embracing painting. Inspired by literature, history, female empowerment, and nature, her work weaves abstract narratives through deliberate color choices and expressive brushstrokes. Each piece invites the viewer to pause, reflect, and uncover the deeper meanings hidden within.

For Julia, painting is an immersive and intuitive process. Music fuels her creativity, setting the rhythm as each layer unfolds organically. She allows her instincts to guide her, letting the painting reveal itself over time. This deep focus results in pieces that are authentic, emotionally charged, and rich with hidden depth.

Julia’s titles serve as a key, offering a glimpse into the hidden stories within each painting while encouraging viewers to interpret and discover their own meanings. She believes that art communicates the intangible—capturing the unseen essence of a moment, a feeling, or a story. Her paintings are an invitation to explore beyond the surface, uncovering layers of meaning through color, form, and imagination.
